Description

Painted on location at the Taos Mesa in late September, approximately one mile from the Rio Grande Gorge. Noon light in the Southwest does something flat and relentless to color that you cannot invent from a photograph. This was painted in a single two-hour session.

Oil on gessoed panel. Single session, plein air. No photography used as reference. Canvas not reworked in studio.
