Description

Painted from two hours of field observation at a wetland preserve outside Asheville. The heron stood in the same position for most of the session. This piece is part of an ongoing series documenting wading birds of the eastern United States.

Creation Notes

Graphite underdrawing, then transparent watercolor layers on 300gsm Arches cold-press cotton paper. No white gouache used. Highlights preserved as paper.
