Biography

Amanda Fields paints the Florida coastline and Gulf marshes from life, working in oil with a palette that captures the shifting light of salt water and sky. Her paintings are built in layers, often over weeks, and carry the particular stillness of places most people drive past without stopping.

Artist Statement

I paint what I am unwilling to let disappear. The morning light on a tidal creek. The silence before a storm rolls in off the Atlantic. I am interested in what is actually there, not what we think we remember.

Process & Studio Notes

Works plein air for reference and color studies, then completes larger works in the studio. Uses traditional oil pigments on primed linen and panel. No digital assistance.
